5 Best Movie Theatres in Lower Westchester

Source: moviefone.comWe love the movies. I know because we spent a record $26.7 Billion dollars in movies last year. Yes… billion with a “B”. Titanic, still the record holder, has made Paramount $1.8 Billion dollars worldwide so far. So, I thought it would be fun to rank the best movie theatres in lower Westchester.

#5. UA Yonkers, 2548 Central Park Ave, Yonkers

If you are shopping on Route 100 and want to take a fun break, stop into this theatre. With five screens, you can get the basics. A little action. A little comedy. Don’t expect the best snacks. Good for families on the go.

#4. Clearview Bronxville Cinema, 84 Kraft Ave, Bronxville

If you want to catch the latest Academy nominees, then Clearview Bronxville is for you. It’s very shi-shi pooh-pooh. They show only Oscar material or cerebral stuff. Last show is at 9:45PM so make sure you get some dinner reservations, or try the best Gelato in the area at Il Bacio Trattoria Restaurant. (The proximity to the Gelato alone moved it up a notch.) Student discounts with ID. Great date location.

#3. Cross County Multiplex, 2 South Dr, Yonkers

Cross County is easy to get to and has a great variety. With 10 screens, you most definitely will be able to catch whatever you are looking for. Plenty times from noon until night. If you are a night owl you can catch the midnight show then go gamble at Empire City. Plus… I’m pretty sure that they are putting some addictive substance in their nachos. (I know they are bad for me, but I can’t get enough.) You may have to fight off the teen crowd Friday and Saturday nights, so use the ticket machines to avoid the lines or just pre-order.

#2. Pelham Picture House, 175 Wolfs Ln, Pelham

Did you know Pelham has a movie house? Neither did I, until I found out about $6 movie night on Tuesdays. With only one screen, Pelham usually has one kid-friendly movie playing. This place is perfect for families. Take the kids to see the latest, spend only $6 per person, then go to one of the local restaurants or to Haagen-Dazs for some ice cream. I would have ranked this #1, but that might make me look too cheap.

#1. Regal New Roc City, 33 Lecount Pl, New Rochelle

Regal’s Cinema at New Roc is hands down number one. With 17 screens, if you can’t find it here, it doesn’t exist. Plus they have IMAX for those of you that like your movies larger than life. Whenever a 3D movie comes to town, you can get it at New Roc. Additionally, it is surrounded by the best entertainment and gaming complex in Westchester. Only if you like glow in the dark bowling, pool, a full indoor go-cart speedway, mini-golf, an ice skating rink, and a whole bunch of restaurants. I get my tickets from the lobby machines in 30 seconds, no lines. Great movies, great sound, great snacks.

There is a planned multiplex rumored in Mount Vernon’s Sandford Blvd. Stay tuned. If you think my picks are all wrong or your favorite theatre didn’t make the list … AskRey.
