Yes I think he will do a good job. But… is this it? All we get is good government? No crazy facial hair like my main man Jimmy McMillan? No schizophrenic outbursts like Carl Paladino? He’s not even blind and appears to be too busy to provide us with a decent sex scandal yet! This guy is not even trying! At least his father donned the gangsta suits, allowing our imaginations to run wild with images of Italian god fathers.

To make matters worse, he’s actually sticking to his campaign promises. It seems he is going to eliminate the $10 Billion budget gap, by cutting expenses rather than tax the Big Mango (that’s the Big Apple for those of you that live upstate). He’s already started swinging the budget axe like the Old Norse berserkers wading into battle with their wolf skins. I haven’t heard any rumblings of eliminating the STAR program, so I guess home buyers and realtors alike should be grateful. But as a New Yorker, I’m just not used to this “No Corruption” “No Scandal” style of governing.

Therefore, my message to you Mr. Governor is “Step it up!” If you are going to govern the Empire State, then you had better deliver some scandals to liven things up. I expect baby mommas jumping out of the woodwork. I expect large tracts of the state annexed to your personal real estate portfolio and I expect insane public meltdowns… STAT.

New Income Thresholds for STAR Exemptions in 2011

New York State's School Tax Relief (STAR) Program provides property tax exemptions (also known as homestead exemptions) for New York homeowners. Starting in 2011, Basic STAR is available to anyone who owns and lives in his or her own home and earns less than $500,000. Previosuly Basic STAR had no income requirements. Enhanced STAR is available to senior homeowners whose incomes do not exceed $79,050.

Basic STAR works by exempting the first $30,000 of the full value of a home from school taxes. Enhanced STAR provides an increased benefit for the primary residences of senior citizens (age 65 and older) with qualifying incomes. For qualifying seniors, Enhanced STAR exempts the first $60,100 of the full value of their home from school taxes.

Dealines for STAR exemption applications are set by the local manucipalities so call your local assessor's office.
